Help Me Celebrate My Birthday!

Posted in Choices, Education, Family, Inspirational People, Leadership, Life and Lifestyle, Relationships with tags , , , , , , on September 5, 2012 by firefighterselfrescue

On 9/20/12, I’m turning 36. And this year, I don’t want presents or drinks. I want clean water.

Women and children in Rwanda walk for hours every day, up and down mountains, just to collect water from rivers. And the worst part? The water they collect can make them really sick.

Terrible right? Well, we can actually do something about it. Just $65 can give someone in Rwanda clean water.

So I’m asking everyone for my age in donations. Give $36 or $360 or any amount that you can afford and help me give life’s most basic need.

The best part is that 100% of the money we raise will directly fund water projects in the Rwanda, and when those projects are complete, charity: water will send us photos and GPS coordinates so we can see the impact we made. I can’t think of a better birthday gift. Join me!

Please watch all videos and be inspired like I was!

Thank you! Please click this link to donate!

Calm assertiveness = command presence

This is kind of a different subject for me. I heard about Ceaser Millan from a story that Malcolm Gladwell wrote in his book “What the Dog Saw”. I became interested in his story and how he uses human behavior to help rehabilitate dogs. I read his book that’s called “caesar’s Way” and I’ve also watched numerous episodes of his show “The Dog Whisper”. I think we all need to be working on our own calm assertiveness.

I’m always talking about innovation and how awful the fire service is at it!  Here is a short video that I think gives a real good idea to help.  Please let me know if any of you implement this!
